Window Cling Highlights
Removable and Repositionable
Unlike most traditional window decals, window clings are designed to be placed on a window, removed when needed, then reused without losing adhesion strength. The secret to this is in the vinyl material of the cling which acts like a mini-suction cup when firmly pressed to the surface. To adhere it to a window or surface, remove the white backing, spray a light soap and water mixture on to the cling and surface, then press firmly into place. Your customized cling will then stick to the surface, free of any bubbles or creases.
When you want to reposition the window cling, simply peel it away from the surface, spray with soapy water, and stick again - just like magic! If you want to store the cling in between use, just remove it from the window and re-apply the white, protective backing that came with the window cling.
Clear Background
An optically clear background offers a transparent display option for your window or storefront. All areas of your design that do not have a background color will remain transparent and see through from both sides. Please keep in mind that areas where ink is printed will not be optically clear.
Also, designs uploaded to our design tool with colored or solid backgrounds across the entire design will not be clear - if you want a solid colored background, go with our opaque window clings! Need help removing that pesky background? Use PNG files with transparent backgrounds or take advantage of our free design services to help make your window cling clear and beautiful!

Static Clings vs Window Clings
What are static clings and do they differ from window clings? The easiest way to describe a static cling is a decal that sticks without any adhesive. Our clear window clings are synonymous with clear static clings. The different terms is simply a case of semantics. The vinyl material of our window clings acts like a suction cup when placed and pressed onto a smooth, non-porous surface. Clear window clings will easily adhere to windows and other smooth surfaces without any adhesive.
With proper installation your window cling can stay in place for a year or more when cared for and placed properly. Not only do they stay in place but because no adhesive is used they can be removed and reapplied again and again. So, whether you call them clear static clings or clear window clings you’ll be getting a versatile window sign.

How to Install Clear Window Clings
Applying your window cling can be done in a few simple steps. All you need is the window cling, a clean surface, a soap and water mixture in a spray bottle, and a squeegee (available for purchase with a window cling).
Thoroughly clean the surface of the glass or non-porous surface you’re applying the window cling to. Use water or any other household window cleaner.
Once the surface is clean, gently peel the white backing away from the cling.
Use a light soap and water mixture to spray the window and the non-printed side of your cling (the front for inside glass window clings or the rear for outside glass, or standard surface, window clings).
Apply the cling to the surface by starting at the top, applying pressure as you work your way to the bottom.
Use a squeegee* to remove excess water and bubbles.
*Available for purchase with clear window clings and other decal products
Once dry, your window cling will adhere to the window, while still being removable and repositionable!

Care
Custom clear window clings can be easily cleaned using a damp cloth. Gently wipe dirt or residue from the surface of the cling and surrounding window. When needing to store the window cling, simply remove it from the window, wipe it down to remove any surface dirt, then re-apply the protective backing on the ‘adhesive’ side. If you don’t have the protective backing, wax paper can be used as a protective backing.

Questions and Answers
For the most part, window clings will work in a wide variety of climates. But we recommend displaying your window clings indoors. By selecting “Inside Glass” and using clear static clings, you can still advertise on the storefront and apply it behind the window. You avoid exposing the clear window clings to extremely humid, wet or frigid weather that can damage the display. Outdoor application on windows or vehicle windows is best in moderate weather and conditions.
Window clings will stick to any glass surface. In most cases, they will also stick to smooth surfaces like acrylic and solid plastics. They will not stick well to drywall, wood, and other similar surfaces. The surface they stick to must also be nonporous, which means it can’t have any pores or crevices where water and air come in. You can also apply the clear window cling on a solid unpainted surface.
Clings are most typically used inside. Although they can be used outdoors, we don’t normally recommend it. If you are going to use them outdoors make sure to follow installation instructions and remove them before any severe weather. Due to their ability to be removed and reapplied quickly and easily using them outdoors can work.
If you want them to display outside but be installed inside, select “Inside Glass” which means that we’ll reverse print your cling. You can then hang your cling on the inside of your storefront or window to be viewed by those outside or approaching your business. This method of printing accomplishes the visibility you want and keeps the cling out of the elements. However, make sure that your window isn’t tinted or the visibility of your cling will be limited.
We do not recommend clings be used on the exterior of any type of vehicle. They are not designed to be placed on cars and will fly off your vehicle if placed on it. We recommend our car decals or magnets for car signage.
If you follow the installation and storage instructions, your window clings can be removed and reused as often as you’d like. Removing them from the window should not leave behind any sticky adhesive residue.
Window clings are generally used by retail stores, restaurants, spas, salons, grocery stores and more. Typically, the signs themselves help promote sales and promotions, entice customers to enter the store, advertise store hours, decorate locations during holiday or seasonal times, and point of purchase advertising. Clings also work great for temporary settings such as trade show booths and conference centers.
Your window cling can be installed the same way as our window decals. First, ensure that the surface where you will be placing the window cling is clean and allowed time to completely dry. Peel away the cling from the lining, spray the cling and the window with water, then apply the cling and use a squeegee or a plastic card to firmly press the cling to the window and remove any excess water and air bubbles. Start from the middle of the cling and move outwards.
You can clean your cling by using soapy water and a damp cloth or sponge. Gently wipe the back of your cling to remove any dirt or grime build up. Then use clean water and a damp cloth or sponge to wipe away any excess soap. Doing so regularly will help prolong the lifespan of your cling.
If you plan on storing your cling for future use, you need to keep the lining it originally comes with. You can use this lining to carefully put the cling back on and store in a cool and dry room with a sheet of paper or wax paper on both sides.
If you don’t have the lining, simply store them flat between sheets of wax paper.
Do not roll or fold your clings. Removing creases and curls is difficult.
You can refresh your window cling by cleaning it with soapy water and then rinsing with clean water. Rub the window cling with a wool or fleece blanket to dry.
When reinstalling, make sure to spray the window and the cling with water. Then use a squeegee to apply the cling to the window.
