What Are Fleet Graphics?

In simple terms, fleet graphics are vinyl adhesive decals applied to the exterior of a variety of vehicles in order to both enhance branding and leverage vehicles' high visibility as an advertising or marketing channel. Fleet graphics can come in three different forms as described below.

Fleet Lettering

The most basic fleet graphics are vinyl lettering for vehicles. This option consists of your message being cut from solid colored vinyl. Messaging is primarily text but simple vector graphics will also work. Lettering can be done in more than 30 colors but can not contain printed photos or gradients. Fleet lettering is pre-masked and applied all at once. Typical uses include company name, contact information, and simple logos. Fleet Lettering

Spot Graphics

Spot graphics can include both images and text. Your design is printed onto, not cut from, adhesive vinyl that is then applied to your vehicle’s surface. Because it is printed it doesn’t have the same limitations as fleet lettering and can be any color, gradient, and more. More complex graphics and logos for branding purposes short of a full graphics are the most common use of spot graphics. Complex logos as spot graphics can be combined with vinyl lettering to get the perfect look. Spot Graphics

Towel

Care

Fleet lettering can be washed on a regular basis with a damp non-abrasive rag so as to not damage the lettering nor the vehicle in any way. When cleaning, do not use strong cleaners or scrub vigorously as both of these actions may damage and/or peel away the lettering from the surface where applied. While hand washing is the recommended cleaning method, low pressure power washers and most car washes are both safe ways to clean your fleet lettering when done with care.

Fleet Spot Graphics

Fleet Graphics Artboard 23

Big or small our custom fleet graphics are the perfect way to brand all of your company’s vehicles. Printed spot graphics have no limitations on colors, gradients or other printed elements. All printed elements will be on one continuous piece of material (graphics that have both dimensions over 52” will need to be paneled) in contrast to vinyl lettering which consists of individual letters. By default the background color will be white but can be printed in any color that matches your brand. Spot graphics can also be cut to shape to complete your customization. Spot graphics have a protective laminate that make them water and weatherproof for graphics that will last for years to come.

Spot graphics are the perfect solution for complex logos, large one off graphics on the sides of painted vehicles and much more. If you’re looking for large vehicle graphics without doing a partial or full wrap, spot graphics are exactly what you are looking for.

“I had talked to someone via the chat bubble on the website and was under the impression that I was ordering cutout vinal lettering. When I received my vinal it was on a big sheet with a big while background that doesn't match my vehicle. It looks tacky and I'm extremely disappointed. I was also told I would receive a call from a supervisor to find a solution and never received a call.”

Q:
Does the fleet lettering have a laminate over top?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
No. There are UV protectants in the vinyl material that makes your fleet lettering durable enough to last 8-10 years (depending on climate, use, etc.) without the need of an overlay laminate.
Q:
Are there any restrictions on what I can do design with fleet lettering?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
As noted, printed elements such as photos and gradients can not be done with fleet lettering. Fleet lettering also should be applied on flat surfaces for the optimal adhesion and durability. Otherwise, fleet lettering is an incredibly versatile and durable product.
Q:
Is fleet lettering reusable? Repositionable?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
Fleet lettering is not reusable nor repositionable. Once installed, it is a semi-permanent application that can not be moved around or re-used if completely removed from the surface of your vehicle.
Q:
Any restrictions on what surfaces I can apply it to?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
The general rule of thumb is that the surface needs to be smooth and non-porous for fleet lettering to work properly. Thus, basically any type of fleet vehicle should be a suitable surface for your custom fleet lettering. This includes both the painted sides of vehicles as well as the glass surfaces or windows. The only caution is to avoid un-smooth surfaces such as cracks, ridges, rivets, corrugated, etc. on vehicle surfaces.
Q:
Can I apply it to different vehicles?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
Yes. Fleet lettering, on smooth non-porous surfaces, should work on any type of vehicle including cars, trucks, box trucks, vans, delivery trucks, buses, semi-trailers and any other kind of vehicle that may make up your fleet.
Q:
What is the impact or considerations when using fleet lettering on windows and tinted windows?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

If you intend on using your fleet lettering on windows you should be aware that the lettering is opaque in nature. Thus, large lettering can obscure visibility while driving. We recommend our perforated car decals if you're looking for large messaging without obstruction or hindering a driver's ability to see while operating a vehicle.

For tinted windows, we recommend a light and contrasting color to ensure others can read your messaging. Dark colored fleet lettering on tinted windows will make your company name, contact information or other messaging difficult to read.

Q:
Will the lettering ruin the paint on my vehicle?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
No. Your lettering should not ruin the paint of your vehicle if applied and removed correctly. Please ensure that the paint is fully cured before installing your fleet lettering. For removal of lettering that has been in place for an extended period we recommend the use of a heat gun or similar tool to help slowly and gently remove your lettering without damaging the paint. In some cases where the lettering has been in place for years there is potential for the removal of the lettering to damage or remove the paint of the vehicle.
Q:
How do I remove the lettering? What if it has been in place for a very long time?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Your lettering can be gently and slowly peeled away from the surface of your vehicle without damaging the paint. A sharp edge may be needed to get it started. If you're using a sharp edge, take care not to damage the surface paint while using it during removal.

For lettering that has been in place for an extended period, we recommend the use of a heat gun or other heat source to help remove the lettering. Gently and slowly peel away the lettering from the surface of your vehicle. Residual adhesive, if any, can be removed with a very mild cleaner and water and light scrubbing or a paint-safe adhesive remover. In some cases where the lettering has been in place for years there is potential for the removal of the lettering to damage or remove the paint of the vehicle.

Q:
Do you offer removal services?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Yes. Our in-house team and network of certified installers are also trained to properly remove fleet lettering. If you need removal and installation or even just removal fill out this form to contact us today..

Q:
What are the most common uses of fleet lettering?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
Fleet lettering is most commonly used to display company details such as a logo, tagline, website address, and contact information. It is also often used to display registration numbers such as VIN and USDOT numbers for commercial trucks and fleets.
