What are Car Decals

What are Car Decals?

Car decals (also called car stickers or car graphics) are images, graphics, or lettering printed onto or cut out of self-adhesive vinyl and then placed on any vehicle. Car decals include car and truck lettering, clear vinyl decals, opaque vinyl decals, perforated decals, and high-adhesive decals. They are mainly used for advertising business names, logos, products, and contact information. They may also be used to show off your favorite logo, team, band, etc.

Decals vs. Stickers: We’re often asked about the difference between decals and stickers. They may sound and look similar, but they have very distinct materials and applications. Typically printed on vinyl, decals are meant to be displayed on the windows or body of a vehicle. On the other hand, stickers can be printed on paper or on outdoor film. Unlike decals, stickers can be placed on a broad range of items, such as notebooks, water bottles, and laptops, to name a few.

Common Uses: For outdoor use on windows, doors, fronts, or the back of any vehicle. This includes cars (automobiles), trucks, commercial vans, tractors, race cars, buses, motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, off-road vehicles, RVs, and others.

Installation: All our vehicle decals are easy to install. You can find step-by-step installation instructions for each product on its respective product page. Select “Learn More” on one of the products listed above to see the product-specific installation instructions.

Care: Regularly clean your vehicle decal with a damp, non-abrasive cloth. This will remove dirt and grime from the decal and help maintain its quality and life span. Avoid using power washers or high-power car washes. All decals are safe to use on areas of a window with windshield wipers.

Q:
How do I install the vehicle decals?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Here's a quick guide on vehicle decal installation:

  1. Wash the surface where the decal will be applied and let it air dry.
  2. The backing of the decal should be removed so that the adhesive is now exposed.
  3. For clear and opaque decals, a mixture of water and a drop of mild detergent should be sprayed onto the adhesive. This liquid will provide some wiggle room in positioning the decal on your vehicle. No water should be used on perforated decals.
  4. The decals can then be placed onto the vehicle, and a squeegee is used to remove excess water.
  5. Once dry, the adhesive properties will set in, and your decal will be in place.
Q:
Are the vehicle decals easy to install? What about extra-large decals?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Yes, decals are simple and quick to install; just make sure to follow the instructions carefully. For larger decals, more than one person needs to install them to ensure that the adhesive doesn’t touch or stick to another part of the decal. This can result in tears when trying to unstick the decal from itself, and getting someone to assist you will help prevent this from happening.

Q:
Will the decals fall off when I’m driving, in bad weather, or in the car wash?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Your vehicle decals should not fall or fly off when driving in typical or inclement weather. It is critical to place the decals in a good position to help ensure that this doesn't happen. Decals should be placed on smooth or flat areas of your car. They should not be placed on paneling or cracks. As with any car decal, you should not use a pressure washer or a mechanical car wash. The water pressure and large brushes of either of these can damage your car decal beyond repair or even cause them to fall off.

Q:
Are the vehicle decals hard to remove? Will they damage my car?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Our decals are easy to remove. In most cases, you only need to peel them off your car and use a razor blade (for window placement) and soapy water to remove any residual adhesive material. In some cases, heating the decal with a blow dryer will allow for easier removal. Decals placed on painted areas should be removed with utmost care so as not to scratch the paint. Regardless of the type of decal you choose, it shouldn’t damage the car or paint job. This is true both when installing and removing the decal.

Q:
Do you have any design templates that will work for my vehicle decal project?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Yes, we have hundreds of design templates that work well as decals. We have designs ideal for home improvement service providers, such as painters, roofers, construction companies, and repair services. We also offer templates for interior designers, carpenters, plumbers, and driving schools. Additionally, we have templates that can apply to other businesses on the go.

Q:
How long until my car decals arrive?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

We will have your custom car decals printed and shipped as soon as the next business day. To find out your estimated delivery date, type in your ZIP code into our online calculator.

Q:
Can I keep my car decal sticker on while I wash my car?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Yes, you can. Our car decals are waterproof and designed to withstand harsh weather conditions.

Q:
How long will my car decal sticker last?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Car decals are very durable and can last for more than eight years without cracking or fading.

Q:
Can I put a car decal on a new paint job?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

Although you can stick our car decals on painted surfaces, as a precautionary measure, we suggest that you don’t immediately apply a vehicle decal on a new paint job. It’s better to let the surface completely dry first before applying your car decal.

Q:
Should I match my car decal to the color of my vehicle?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

No, we don’t recommend this. Car decals are supposed to stand out and emphasize key parts of your message. Matching your car decal to the color of your vehicle will only make your decal less noticeable to potential customers.
