What are Wooden Signs?

Our 1/2” wooden signs are a medium-density fiberboard that is covered in bonded polymer overlay to create a smooth white finish that allows for clear printing coupled with excellent durability as a single or double-sided interior or exterior sign.

Wooden signs can be custom cut to any shape for a more personalized look that will grab the attention of passersby. Unfinished or unsealed edges reveal the wooden look of the sign material for an added aesthetic touch. Whether used for your business or something else, custom printed wooden signs are some of the most durable exterior signs that can be purchased when compared to other rigid substrates.

Edges bare. No good. Needs protection for exterior use.

“The wood sign came painted on both sides, however the edges of the sign were UNPROTECTED and BARE. I contacted customer service but they assisted this was normal and the sign would be ok outdoors. This is simply incorrect. The wood will delaminate and the sign will be ruined quite easily. I spent hours applying multiple coats to protect the edges.”

Q:
Can the outdoor wooden signs be written on with dry erase markers? like for a daily checklist?
Asked 10 months ago by Kyle G.
A:

You can use a moist towel to wipe down these signs and clean them. Steer clear of fire and other sources of intense heat. Keep it dry and cold in storage. Should the protective laminate covering your wooden sign be removed, we advise using a fresh cloth and a citrus-based cleanser or a 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water mixture for cleaning. But if you are looking for a product that is more suitable for dry erase, you might want to consider our foam board signs instead. You may click the link below to learn more:

Q:
Can you make wooden signs to be an "attached sign" so the side of it can be mounted to a side of house?
Asked a year ago by Kathy
A:

Yes. Our yard signs are also best for outdoor use. We also have the option to add hole drills for easy mounting.

Q:
When will the protective laminate coating be offered again?
Asked a year ago by Lexi L.
A:

Yes. But this would depend on the supplier we have. As soon as this is available this would be seen and open for selection on the site.

Q:
What is the actual material of your wooden signs? Is this different from MDO boards?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:

The material is a medium-density fiberboard (MDF) that has a white face from bonded polymer on both sides. It is moisture resistant and suitable for indoor and outdoor use. This wood is both extremely versatile from a printing perspective as well as in its ability to be cut to shape and used in a variety of settings and circumstances.

Yes, fiberboard is different from MDO board as it tends to have a smoother and flatter finish and thus lends itself to a more consistent and high-quality print job than when printing directly on MDO.

Q:
How thick are your wooden signs? Do you offer different thickness options?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
The wood signs offered on our website are 1/2” thick. We do not offer any additional thickness options of our wooden signs.
Q:
How durable is the wooden sign? Will the wooden signs bend or break?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
Our wooden signs are some of the most durable signs we have. In normal day-to-day use, unintentionally breaking them will be nearly impossible. Larger signs will have some pliability that increases with size. We recommend posting very large signs with middle support to avoid the chance of potentially damaging the sign.
Q:
What is the lifespan of your wood signs?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
Our wooden signs can last 5+ years with proper care and placement. In many cases the lifespan of these signs is actually much longer. For exterior signs, factors such as size of the sign and climate and exposure to the elements will impact the estimated lifespan of the sign. Alternatively, interior signs should easily last 5+ years due to the lack of constant exposure to the elements.
Q:
Will the exposure to sun or the elements cause my printing to fade?
Asked 2 years ago by Signs
A:
We print with a UV ink. Thus, the printed portion of the sign shouldn’t fade despite the exposure to the sun. Nonetheless, just like any sign, there can be some fading if the sign has been exposed to direct sunlight for an extended period. An optional protective coating can be applied which will increase the protection against UV exposure on your printed wooden sign.
